Cursor Control and Movement

In using an iOS device, rather than controlling the movement, of the cursor on the target system, it would be nice if the iOS device acted more like a touchscreen for the target device. When I select a location on the iOS device, the cursor would follow to that location. This makes finding and using the cursor easier.
In addition, being able to 'left click and hold' would be valuable to allow for dragging Windows desktop windows around.

Hello

Thanks for the feedback and suggestion.

I could certainly envisage adding this. We would need to add a method for switching between this method and the current behaviour. If the issue is finding the cursor, there are other changes we could consider as well - for example, a way to highlight or enlarge the cursor (either permanently or on-demand). I know this is handled slightly differently by our Android client so we will take a look there as well.

It is currently possible to drag on the remote system by making a "double-tap-and-hold" gesture. That is; make a double-tap but keep your finger held down on the second tap. Then drag your finger around.

Thanks and kind regards,

Hello again

Regarding the mouse input mode, I've entered an enhancement ticket on our side. Such an input mode would also improve our compatibility with the new iPad OS mouse support. There's no timeline for making the changes, but I will post back here when we have some news. In the meantime, I would encourage other users to add their voice here if this is a desirable feature.

Thanks and kind regards,

Hi

ill will add a +1 to this feature request if possible for the touch support to mouse/click the mouse...

it’s annoying having to slide the mouse across a screen, as it would take three or four slides to go from the top left corner to the right side of the screen, that’s even on my iPad!

would it also be possible to maybe start the mouse in the middle of the screen instead of the top left as i always forget where the mouse is until I start moving it and then finding it...

Regards

Hi Simon

I do understand the desire; especially now that large screen iPhones and iPads are so pervasive. We've held off on touching this until reviewing the new mouse APIs in iOS 13.4; sadly it remains more of an accessibility aid than a "true" mouse API suitable for our needs.

I hope that we can add some improvements here for the next iOS release, I will post back in this thread with an update.

Thanks and kind regards,

Hello

I'm aware this is an older thread and apologize for the delay. We've implemented something like this for the next Wayk Now iOS release: you will have the option that the cursor will "warp" to the tapped / double-tapped location. This lets you interact with the remote computer in a way that's closer to using a touchscreen.

This new mode remains optional, because - at least on devices with a small screen or a very zoomed-out high resolution display - it can be extremely hard to be precise enough when tapping (depending on what you are doing, most desktop OS click targets are really small for tapping). You will be able to toggle this behaviour on-and-off with a new toolbar button:

I don't have a timeline currently for when this will be released, except to say it will be part of the next version. I'll update this post once that's available.

Thanks and kind regards,

Hello

We've released Wayk Now 2020.2.1 to the App Store and it contains the changes outlined in my last post; that should be available as an update within a few hours.

Please let us know any further questions or feedback.

Thanks and kind regards,
