Exporting a Vault

What is the process to export a vault? For example if we are no longer working with a client and need to send them their logins/accounts stored in the DPH? PVM had a nice export feature that could create an encrypted HTML file. Is there something similar?

Hi,

To extract the content of a vault, you can use the command line tool with the Get-Entries command. The data will be returned as JSON. It will contain most fields including the sensitive data of each entries.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

That seems a bit tedious especially if a client has many entries. Are there plans to make a more user friendly export tool that generates properly formatted exports? This made offboarding clients very easy in the PVM Desktop Edition.

Can you please define "properly formatted exports"? To be clear, it's a single command that extract all entries of a given vault.

So for example in the desktop PVM you could select a folder or number of entries, right click -> Export -> Export Special -> HTML. This would produce a nicely laid out zip encrypted HTML file that also had an encryption password to reveal the password for each entry. Even a simple layout like this would be much better than raw data in a JSON file. I've attached a screenshot example of the HTML export format.

Hi,

I see what you mean. It's currently not supported. With that being said, we will have a better solution in the near future. We are currently working on adding a Hub datasource to RDM which will allow you to do the export you want.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Does that mean we will need to have a RDM license and add our PVM Hub DB to RDM just to do an export of a single vault?

Hi,

Yes, you will eventually be able to add Password Hub as a data source in RDM to export a single vault, but also many other tasks that we currently do not support.

Does that mean we need to pay for and maintain an RDM license on top of what we are paying for the PVM Hub?

Hi Arash,

No, we will offer RDM. Having Password Hub full compatible with RDM will allow us much more features and flexibility for Password Hub.
Lets say it, RDM has it all ! so lets use it.... This is in progress as Maxime told you.

After that phase, it will be easier to actually have an Export function native to Password Hub. But Until then and as soon that RDM can connect to Password Hubs we will offer a RDM License.

Thank you for your patience and support.
