Connections constantly dropping after upgrade to 2019.1.7.0

Hi there,

I've been a long time user of RDM and I upgraded today to version 2019.1.7.0 (64-bit) and since the upgrade, I am getting constant disconnections. Connections drop then reconnect very quickly. I thought it was my network so setup some network monitoring, and I do not see a correlation between RDM randomly dropping connections and my network activity.

The following is from the RDM application log:

Hi,

The application logs shows us that the external RDP process has terminated unexpectedly. It's hard to infer the reason from this alone. What version of RDM were you using before updating?

Could you provide the session logs of one of the session on which you reproduce the issue? You can enable the session logs through the Help -> Session Logs window. Once this is done, just run an RDP session and reproduce the error. You can then go back to the Session Logs window and send me the session logs of the corresponding session by selecting it in the list and clicking Share (in the titlebar) -> Mail. Just send it to me directly: xfortin@devolutions.net

Best regards,

Having the same issue... connection only lasts about 10-15 seconds, then drops.

Here's the portion of the session log where the connection is dropped:

Hi Scott,

Could you send me the entire log (as described in my previous post)? We can see the "BIO_read returned a system error 60: Operation timed out", but we only this, I have no clue as to what is timing out.

Is there any update on this issue? I am experiencing the same thing. I have RDM Enterprise 2019.2.2.0 installed. I'm on macOS Catalina 10.15.2. If I connect to a remote machine using Microsoft Remote Desktop on my Mac, the connection is stable. If I then connect to the same machine using RDM, and just leave the window alone, the session will disconnect and reconnect about every 30 seconds. It seems if I constantly interact with the session, it doesn't do this. The remote systems I'm connecting to are running Windows 7, Windows 10, and Server 2016.

Hi,

We are working on updating our FreeRDP component to see if this solves the issue. I'll post back here when progress is made on this.

Hello, I wanted to let you know that I installed the latest 2020.1.1.0 version today, and the dropping and reconnecting about every 10 seconds issue is still happening.

Hi,

We haven't released a version with the updated FreeRDP component yet. We should release a Beta version with it soon.

Same issue here! Looking forward to the FeeRDP component if that is supposed to fix the issue.

Hi,

In the coming hours, a Beta version of RDM and RDM Free should be release (2020.1.3.0) that will contain the updated version of FreeRDP. As we mentioned before, we never reproduced the issue and therefore cannot confirm that it will solve it. Your feedback will be much appreciated on this.

To get Beta update notification, you need to set the Auto Update value in the Preferences to "All updates including beta".

I installed the 2020.1.3 beta today, connected to some remote machines, and stat and watched the windows for several minutes. So far, I'm not seeing any disconnect/reconnect cycles. So, it seems like the issue is fixed in this build. Much better!

Hi gabe01,

Thanks for getting back in touch with us!

I've received other confirmation from other users, so it seems the issue is fixed.

This new version of FreeRDP will be in the next official release (2020.1.4.0).
