5 errors in RDM 2019

  • Cancel

Hello,

since RDM 2019 Beta we have the following errors. Currently we are on RDM 2019.1.21.0.

1. RDM hangs very often. When opening multiple Sessions (especially RDP and Google Chrome) RDM got no response and we have to kill the task.

No+Response

2. This behavior causes that RDM doesn't close the sessions properly and shows the sessions as already opened. Even when connecting with the same user, we get the already opened warning.

Open+Warning

3. Firefox doesn't work. On most of all clients and terminal servers Firefox doesn't work. There are a few clients where it works. Regardless of whether Firefox is installed or not on the client machine. I cannot find a pattern there.

Firefox

4. The VMware Workstation path is wrong. At the end of the path you have to remove the executable.

VMware+Workstation

5. Save Document is not possible. I don't know what permissions are necessary, but currently only the Admin Group can do this. Read, write and execute Permissions are not enough.

Hello,
Thank you for the details. We will investigate all your errors. I think that the first one is explained here:

https://forum.devolutions.net/topic31825-embedded-chrome-browser-sessions-are-no-longer-working-in-rdm-after-windows--upgrade.aspx

Ok, thanks we will try the Google Chrome workaround.

We found another bug:

6. When connecting to a VMware VSphere Server with the VMware Dashboard using PowerCLI we're missing VMs. Not all VMs of the VSphere cluster are listed. When using the VMWare VSphere Client all VMs are listed.

Hello,

Thank you for reporting this issue. In order to understand more and subsequently resolve this issue. It would help us if you could send us your application log.

You can do this directly in RDM following this path: Help->Application Logs-> Report tab->Send to support button. If you need anymore assistance to submit your report, you can contact support directly and they will walk you through it.

Ok thanks, I've send the application log.

@Daniel,

No ticket has been created at the service desk with your reports. Could you send them again please?

Best regards,

Ok I send the log again.

But I think there's no interesting content inside.

Clock2 mths

@daniel,

Unfortunately, we didn't received anything at the service desk with your second attempt.

Is it possible to post the required screenshot in the forum thread instead?

Sorry about that.

Best regards,

That's the last entry in the logs from 22. May. In these week we had trouble with our storage. That's the reason for the sql errors. The problems are solved now and RDM doesn't log anything new.

Alright, could you describe to us exactly what your VMware infrastructure looks like? Are you connecting to a vCenter or a ESXi? Where exactly are the missing VMs located (folder, cluster, etc.)? Anymore details will help us replicate this error.

Thank you,

For example one of our customers have the following setup:

VMware Version 6.5.0. We're connecting to a vCenter. It's a cluster of two Hypervisors.

When using the "VMware Dashboard" type there are 21 VMs and templates listed.

2019+06+03+09+20+33+Remote+Desktop+Manager+%5bVirtual+machines+++VMware+Dashboard%5d

When using the VMware VSphere Web Client there are 27 VMs and templates listed.

2019+06+03+09+22+10+Remote+Desktop+Manager+%5bJohn+vCenter%5d

On the vCenter there are 5 folders, but there is no pattern of the missing VMs.

Hello,

The issue with Firefox not working properly has been fixed internally and should work properly starting from RDM 2019.1.27.0.

That are great news, thanks!

A question to point 2: Is there a command to reset the opened sessions in the database?

Clock2 mths

Hello Daniel,

I believe that doing a "Flag as Closed" on your sessions would fix your issue. To do so, go in the "Opened sessions" tree view, select your sessions, perform a right click and then select "Flag as Closed".

FlagSessionAsClosed

Hopefully this helps!

Yes, that that did it! Thanks.

Ok so point 4. and 6. are still open in version 2019.1.27.0.

Hello,

This is still on our TODO list and someone has been assigned to the issue. We'll keep you updated once the problem has been fixed.
