We are planning to migrate the existing SQL data to Azure SQL. During the testing, I notice your mobile apps doesn't support AD authentication even though it has the option to select. it will be great if you can add this feature in the next release.

thx/Andy

Hi Andy,

Unfortunately, it is not currently supported.

I'll keep you updated on that.

Hello Mathieu,

Is there any update on Azure AD with SQL Azure? I have downloaded the latest version of the App but i'm not getting a proper connection.

Thank you,

Hi ,

Unfortunately, Active Directory logins are not supported for now. It is a limitation of our framework.
At this time, we do not know when we will be able to support it. To do so, we need a special library from Microsoft which is not currently available.

For security reasons, we have now fully migrated our users to Azure AD with MFA login to our Azure SQL.

We will no longer be able to use the mobile app until it works with AAD auth.

The mobile app really needs to be updated, it is now useless to us.

@garyh,

I had a long conversation with our engineering department and as per the library that we are using + their documentation, it should be possible to implement this authentication method on RDM iOS and RDM Android. We will evaluate what can be done for this feature. Unfortunately, I cannot provide you any timeline regarding this, but when I will get more information on the implementation, I will post back here.

Thank you for your feedback.

Thanks Jeff, One thing I can always count on is Devolutions to develop everything your users ask for.

@Jeff, do you maybe have an update on the feature for AzureAD with MFA support on the iOS app? We are migrating more and more credentials into RDM, but it would be really usefull if we can access the Datasource (Azure SQL with AzureAD and MFA) trought our mobile phone in case of emergency.

Hi Gary,

Unfortunately, we weren't able to implement it on mobile devices. At the moment, the library can't be integrated in our mobile applications
(RDM Android and RDM IOS).

Hey Team

do you have any news on this feature-request? I have the app installed since two years and it's still useless. It would be great if you could find a solution with the appropriate library.

Hi, any Update on this Topic?

Hi Michael,

We will run some tests next week and get back to you soon after.

Hi Michael,

After a brief investigation, we believe this feature could be feasible to implement. However, at the moment, we don’t have the capacity to prioritize it, as we're currently focused on more pressing features and bug fixes that impact more users.

I search the forum from time-to-time regarding this, and this month-old post made me happy. Are there any updates on this?

Also. How do you know that this is not a feature that impact many users? For years I have wanted this and then got told that the library you use does not support the authentication method. I made the assumption that you had an eye on the library development for updates and that this feature was on some list for implementation as soon as it would work. I did not bother asking for updates and have the app installed just to check for changelogs when updates were released,

It's silly explaining for new colleges that we have this tool that can do it all but there is no mobile app.

Hi David,

We’re planning to run some internal tests next week to evaluate the feasibility of this feature. It not only needs to function correctly, but it must also meet our security standards. Ensuring that any implementation is both reliable and secure is critical before we consider moving forward.

Hi Nicolas,

Thank you so much for that update.

Hi David,

We want to let you know that SQL Server will be deprecated on all platforms except Windows. While this may come as a disappointment, this change will allow us to better focus our efforts and resources moving forward. For now, SQL Server will continue to be supported on non-Windows platforms. However, no new features or active development will be added. If you are currently relying on SQL Server outside of Windows, we recommend planning ahead and considering a transition to Hub (Cloud) or DVLS (Self-Hosted) as alternative data sources.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Hey Nicolas

Does this means that SQL Server hosted on all platforms except Windows would be deprecated as database, (so SQL on Azure will also be deprecated)?
Or does that mean that only Windows App can connect to SQL and android app, for example, will no longer be able to do so in the future?

Regards
Dominik

Hi Dominik,

Yes, at the moment SQL Server hosted on non-Windows platforms will be deprecated, meaning no new features or further development will be made for those environments. That also means SQL Server on Azure will be deprecated as well.

That said, it will still be supported, so existing deployments will continue to work and connect to the configured SQL database. "Deprecated" does not mean "immediately removed", it simply signals that the feature is on a path to retirement. In the future, support could be entirely removed.
