RDM v4.4.1.0 not launching after upgrade

  • Create an Issue
  • Cancel

Just updated to enterprise version 4.4.1.0 on macOS Sierra 10.12.6 and the application doesn't launch

Is this a known issue, I've never had problems with updates on Mac and just left the application update. I also tried reinstalling after manually downloading the disk image

Clock3 yrs

Hello,

  • Could you go back on https://mac.remotedesktopmanager.com/Home/Download and download RDM Mac 4.4.1.0 again
  • If RDM doesn’t open like previously, go in /Users/<User>/Library/Application Support/com.devolutions.remotedesktopmanager and attach the RemoteDesktopManager.log file to this topic.
  • If RDM still not openong, try to open RDM via the Terminal (open "/Applications/Remote Desktop Manager.app/Contents/MacOS/RemoteDesktopManager”) and then, send us the output

  • Best regards,

Hi Jeff, I already tried downloading and installing the full disk image. The application tries to launch and then nothing happens.

I've attached the log file for your reference

I tried launching RDM from then Terminal and got the attached output:

I installed v4.4.0.0 after the above tests and that previous version works fine. Thanks for the quick support.

I can work again, but I would like to hear from you why the update didn't work and if there's a way to get it working.

    Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. Our engineering department will have a look at this.

    Hi,

Just to let you know the same thing happens with my Free edition version 4.4.1.0, I recently upgraded from 4.4.0 (which was working fine), but the new version refuses to launch.

I have tried to launch it in low resolution mode, but it launches and just as it is about to show the console, it crashes.

    Thanks,
    Ashwin

    @Ashwin Apte,

As of now, if you want to go back to RDM Free 4.4.0.0, you can download it here

    Hi Maddy and Ashwin,

First, thank you for the terminal output Maddy. While it helped me narrow down what I have to look for, the reason why it happens is still nebulous to me and I'm still walking in the dark.

I rarely ask for this but, could any of you two provide me with your app .cfg file? You can find it there:
    /Users/<User>/Library/Application Support/com.devolutions.remotedesktopmanager/RemoteDesktopManager.cfg

(Just replace com.devolutions.remotedesktopmanager with com.devolutions.remotedesktopmanager.free for the Free Edition.)

Before sending it to me (via private message) open it with your preferred text editor and remove the entire EncryptedDataSources section (everything between <EncryptedDataSources></EncryptedDataSources> ).

    Hi Ashwin,

First, thank you for your config file. While I thought it could have been a bug linked to a specific settings in the preferences. It seems to not be the case as I'm having no issue with the same set of preferences as you.

I've built a version with some more logging in the affected area that should also prevent the crash, though I want to pinpoint the issue.

Could you test it and after it successfully open (or crash), send me you application log.

    Here is said version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mg2f9qnq55j7inw/Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Free.Mac.4.4.1.1501771149.dmg?dl=0

If the application opens successfully, I'd like you to modify the layout (resize the navigation tree) a bit to trigger a bit more logging.

If the application still crash, you can find the application log at the following path: /Users/<User>/Library/Application Support/com.devolutions.remotedesktopmanager.free/RemoteDesktopManagerFree.log

    Thanks Xavier,

Sorry about the late response, I was traveling. I will try out your debug version and let you know if it works or if it crashes again.
