Black screen when connect to Mac

Hi,

I try to remote my Mac from my Android by using Apple Remote Desktop.

While I can connect & control the mouse (I can move the mouse pointer from Android device), the Android screen is totally black.

My Android device is Boox Max Carta (version 4.0.4).

Within the Remote Device Manager in Adroid, I set up:
-Display: Embedded (tabbed) & Default
-Apple Remote Desktop (ARD): host: my local Mac IP address, Port: 5900
-Settings:
+Screen: Prompt
+ Miscellaneous: View only
+Authentication type: ARD
+ Connect to a virtual display
-Advance:
+ Track mouse movement: tick
+ Preferred encoding: Zlib 16 Gray (as my Android device is an ereader, hence black & white only)

Please kindly let me know how to solve my Android black screen problem.

Many thanks,

Hi Thanh,

Our remote sessions rely on OpenGL to render the content of the remote hosts.

We think your device does not support OpenGL as we could not find any information suggesting that it does.

This would explain why you see a black screen.

Can you send us your application logs?
In the application drawer, select Help And Support, Report a Problem/Send Logs

Can you also try to connect to a Windows machine with RDP and let us know if it works?

Hi,

I tried on Windows as well and I also got the black screen.

Just sent you the logs of both events, please do let me know if you need anything further.

Many thanks,

Hi Thanh,

Thank you for the information.

After analyzing the logs, our initial thought was correct.

Your tablet does not support OpenGL which is unfortunate since OpenGL is supported by most devices.

At the moment, we do not have a solution for devices that do not support OpenGL.

Perhaps one day we will implement a renderer for devices that do not support OpenGL but it is not on our short term list of todos.

Thanks Nicholas.

This doesn't explain his black screen on Windows. I am having the same issue - connection Windows 10 to a Mac Mini (Late 2014 edition) and get the black screen. According to the documentation, all Mac Minis since 2009 support OpenGL. So I am thinking you have another issue with your Mac connector.

Hi Brian,

In order to reproduce your issue, I would like to match your setup as closely as possible.
What version of macos is installed on your mac mini?
How many monitor are attached to the mac mini?

Does your Windows 10 machine have a discrete gpu or integrated graphics?
Is your RDM session's properties set to their default values?
