Client Permissions

Hello,

does the Devolutions Server process Client Permissions?

Or does the client gets all passwords from Devolutions Server and decide if the user can see a entry.

Hi,
It depends of which security model you use. When you use the security group, it's filtered server side but when you use the Role based security, it's client side since of the inheritance and the overrides. You can use both for example use the security group to filter you client and after that use a more granular security with the roles.

By the way everything is returned encrypted and you can use the security provider to apply another level of encryption with a certificate or a passphrase.

I'm using security groups and have the following issue:

I have imported all data with sql server data source.
Then i created security groups and applied it to 1st level folders.
I created a non-admin user and added him to all groups with all permissions.

In sql server data source i can see all connections.
In devolution server data source i can only see the 1st level folders without content.

When i make any changes to a session (e.g. changing the name) as administrator the entry appears for the user.

It looks like devolution server can't calculate permission inheritance and remote desktop manager does not update inherited permissions.

Hello,

RDM version is 10.0.8.0 and DVLS version is 4.0.7.0.

Today i created a new user and found out, that he does not have this issue.

Then i opend connection settings for the user with the problem end press save.
After that the problem disappeared.

I think this was a caching problem.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. This is a good news that it works now.

For your information, you can do a full refresh of the data source in RDM with CTRL+Refresh button or CTRL+F5.

Hello,

By the way, I forgot to ask if you are running RDM 10.0.8.0 or is it a typo and you are using RDM 12.0.8.0?
