First, sorry for my english ...
I try to use RDM Free, to etablish a session with a Terminal Server Windows Server 2008 R2, with the detection of my Smartcard (PosteSuisse ID Certificate).
My local machine is a MAC OSX 10.11 El Capitan, and the USBKey works very well on the local machine.
So I have check the option "Smart cards" on my Microsoft RDP Local Ressources, and it's doesn't work.
On both mode, Display External or Embedded (tabbed).
Can you help me please, because the only way I found to works with an Smart card on my TS is doing a boot camp on my MAC.
FYI, I would use the Smart card for signatures on PDF Files, and authentification on specific Web Site, but not for authentification during the opening session.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I'm not sure we can't help you. It seems that even Microsoft (we call Microsoft directly in external) does not support it. This means that your Smartcard must be not compatible with our Mac implementation.
Smart cards are really complex to implement. I wil double check with our dev to see if he thinks about a solution and let you know.
OK, I'm waiting your answer.
First, let me explain the difference between External and Embedded mode:
-In External mode we open the Microsoft Remote Desktop app and send it as much info as we can. This imply some limitation including, Smart Card are not supported.
-In Embedded/Tabbed mode we use FreeRDP. It has some Smart Card support but it's not perfect especially with the latest version of OS X.
We have also seen strange behaviour depending on Hardware and Software combination.
To help you we will need some information:
-Your exact OS X version
-Your model of smartcard reader and smartcard
-Smartcard reader and smartcards are sometimes available only in certain country, do you know if the one you use are available in Canada?
-How do you use your smartcard exactly?
-Do you use any software to operate it?
You can also configure your RDP Logs (Here how-to configure it How to enable and send RDP Logs).
Simply make sure you try to operate your smart card while your session is active before sending us the log.
I try to answer your questions.
- MAC OS X 10.11.1 El Capitan (but I want use this smartcard system in different computeur, more and less recent.
- It's a SwissStick 2 Black Line (from SiwssSign). That's a smartcard with a authentification certification, permit to sign every electronic document.
- I think it's a specific Swiss smartcard so ...
- To do signatures.
- I have a software to check if the Smartcard is correctly plugged.
Remember, on a Windows Boot Camp, it's working good.
I have attached the log file.
Thanks for your help.
Thank you for the information.
The reason why it works on Windows is that in the Windows version of RDM we don't use freeRDP or Microsoft Remote Desktop, we use a Microsoft tool that is not available on Mac.
I will send your info to our freeRDP specialists and see if they can figure out what is going on.
