Cannot change expired windows password

Dear fellow RDM'ers,

Since a couple weeks we have implemented Remote Desktop Manager. What a great tool with such handy features!
However recently we experience the following issue:

We use RDM mostly to connect to our (customers) servers by RDP. We use domain accounts for that.
However, when the password from the domain account is expired, we are presented with the following error message:

This user's account password is expired. The password must change in order to logon. Please update the password or contact your system administrator.

We use Network Level Authentication on all of our RDP connections.
With NLA disabled, RDM logs on to windows were we are presented with "you must change your password" message and change your password.
With NLA enabled RDM can't logon and presents the above message.

How can we solve this? It's no solution to ask our colleagues to reset our passwordssmile
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Unfortunately I don't what we could do. Do you have an idea on how we could handle this? How would you do that without RDM?

One thing could be to set the expiration date in the RDP session and update the password before the expiration.

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

We did some further tests, and it looks like it's merely a NLA issue. Not an issue with RDM itself:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2648397

As a workaround we will supply one server per customer without NLA. That way we can Always logon to that server to change our password.
In the mean time we will investigate this issue further.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

The link no longer work on Windows 10. any suggestion? For password reset, it is very convenient for now.

@Lion,

As I understand, you are not able to login when an admin password expires.

Have you tried to disable NLA like Roel proposed?

@Lion,

Hi, as my colleague ask could you look at the NLA services.

Here is a link that could help you, that link is with Windows 8.1 but it's still the same base as Windows 10.
