exception when opening sharepoint site

exception when opening sharepoint site

avatar

hi!
i just tested a standard sharepoint site with RDM version 5.8.2.1 and it throws an exception every time RDM is closed.
the description is set to "url" and the corresponding url is entered.
what i do is:
1. open RDM
2. click the connection once to show the sharepoint-site in the description
3. close RDM
i tested RDM using a exe which is located in "E:\RDMTEST" .. i looked at the "RemoteDesktopManager.log" but there was no error reported in ...
could you either provide me with a debug exe or let me know where to find a error-log?!

thanks in advance!

Hi,
Can you send me print screen with the error. I suspect that it's not RDM that crash, but the ActiveX.

Hi,
Do you get this error only if you open a sharepoint site ? Also, can you try the version 5.7 and see if you get this error ? You don't get the log because the crash happen after all the .NET part of the application is unloaded and it's a remaining native component (ActiveX) that causes the error.

Hi,
Can you verify your option file (remotedeskoptmanager.cfg) and find the value of WebBrowserScriptErrorsSuppressed ?

David Hervieux

hi!
the value of WebBrowserScriptErrorsSuppressed was set to "false" therefore i changed it to "true" but the error still occurs ...

The problem is that this error is not in our code, the error you see is in unmanaged code. this mean that it's hard to track. We are working in embedding firefox, maybe it will help

but this error does not occur in 5.8.0.0 ... what was changed in 5.8.0.1?
since then the error occurs .. and the readme does not tell me much:

VERSION 5.8.0.1 (March 31th 2010)

and firefox integration would cause entering credentials (on every page load?!?) ...

maybe if you can not fix it you could supply us with a 5.8.0.0 with working rtf-description-links?!

Hi plague,
I will try to find the source of this error. I will ask you a series of question to help me find the problem:

1. Does it happen if you use the Old UI (5.7) option ?
2. Does it happen if link the session to google.com
3. If you create a new Access data source with only 1 session, does it happen? You must set this data source as default to ensure that other data source are not loaded
4. If it's possible, can you try on another OS ?

please find hereunder the anwsers to your questions:
1: it happens with both UIs
2: i changed the url to "example.com" and the error does not occur
3: created new access data source removed any other data source .. same error
4: i tried on an other os with the same ie version and no error occured ...

could you please help me find out what this error causes as reinstalling my machine is no option ...
