location of cfg-file

avatar

it seems there is a bug with the new location of the cfg-file.

scenario:
when i used version 5.6.0.1 installed to c:\programme\remotedesktopmanager\ it contained the following files
remotedesktopmanager.exe
remotedesktopmanager.cfg
remotedesktopmanager.bak
connections.mdb
connections.log
remotedesktopmanager.addon.dll

then i update to 5.6.0.2 by replacing the exe and dll in c:\programme\remotedesktopmanager\ (so no second installation; no two different locations; just one exe)

first start by double-clicking exe:
it moved the .cfg to %userprofile%\local settings\....
on close:
.bak was created

second start by double-clicking exe:
everything goes well

then starting RDM with "start | run": C:\Programme\RemoteDesktopManager\RemoteDesktopManager.exe
i've been asked whether to start RDM on startup
the .cfg file was created in c:\programme\remotedesktopmanager\
the connections.mdb is new created in %userprofile%\local settings\... and therefore empty

starting RDM again with "start | run" it uses the cfg from c:\programme\remotedesktopmanager and the connections.mdb from %userprofile%\local settings\...

so there seems to be a bug when starting RDM with "start | run"?!

please take a look at this and let me know if there is anything not clear.

Finally, I'm unable to reproduce... If you double click on the exe, does it works after the problem or it's permanently broken ?

steps to reproduce:
version 5.6.0.2 or higher
installation path: c:\program files\remotedesktopmanager\
current configuration file path: %userprofile%\local settings\...
have a look at the installation path and make sure the cfg file does not exist there

click "start | run" and type: "c:\program files\remotedesktopmanager\remotedesktopmanager.exe"

have a look at c:\program files\remotedesktopmanager\ there should now be a cfg file ...

if you can't reproduce it can you provide me with a "debug"-version?

if you double click the exe after the .cfg file was created in the installation path the .cfg from the installation path is moved to the dir %userprofile%\local settings\... and overwrites the "old" one
